Life
at Helm
At Helm Recovery, we believe a structured, accountable home can also be a place where joy, connection, and self-discovery thrive—where recovery becomes not just about staying sober, but about rediscovering life with purpose and possibility.
🧭 Helm House Guidelines
Residents of Helm Recovery agree to live in a structured, supportive home built around accountability, safety, and personal growth.
Our goal is to make recovery a journey of purpose, connection, and discovery — not just abstinence.
House Structure
All residents begin with a 30-day restriction period.
During this time, you’re expected to find a sponsor and a home group.
We’ll help with sponsor connections if needed.
Working the 12 Steps as outlined in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous is required.
Random and mandatory drug tests or breathalyzers may be given at any time to ensure community safety.
Meetings & Recovery Work
Attend a weekly house meeting to review goals and share progress.
Attend 4 AA/NA/CA meetings per week during your first 30 days, and 3 per week thereafter.
We’ll assist in finding meetings, sponsors, employment, or LADC support whenever needed.
Employment & Daily Life
Residents are expected to be employed or have a start date within two weeks of arrival.
Each resident is assigned a weekly chore to help maintain the home.
Keep personal spaces clean and beds made daily.
Our Philosophy
At Helm Recovery, structure creates freedom.
We believe that accountability and consistency open the door to:
Fun and community
Self-exploration and growth
Purpose and joy in everyday life
This is a space where you can heal, rebuild, and rediscover who you are — with support every step of the way.
The only requirement
for membership is a
desire
to stay
sober

We Believe In Fun
We did not get sober to be miserable. We want our residents to find what brings them joy, as many people entering recovery are unfamiliar with what fun looks like while being sober. We do monthly outings, where both houses come together to engage in group activities.
Here are some of our group activities:
Sea Dogs baseball games
Hearts of Pine soccer games
Bowling Outings
Basketball/Volleyball
Lazer Tag
White Water Rafting/Kayaking
Paintball
